“I strive to piece my work together with an awareness of the imperfect, an appreciation of the old and how to give it new life.”

about my art

artist profile

I was born and raised in Victoria B.C. Canada. I was lucky enough to have been exposed to many types of art expression through classes, galleries and patient teachings of my mother and grandmother. I have spent a life time of collecting inspiration with my love of travel and hiking always thinking how I can transform what I see and feel into creative energy. Later in life I worked with acrylic painting and then enrolled in a Design and Experimental stitch Diploma that catapulted me into exactly what I had been looking for in my own creative journey, a marriage of textile, paint, thread in non traditional forms.

The touch and appearance of fabric and paint has always thrilled me. I express how the world around me appears with combing multiple layers and mixing a variety of mediums to create a distinct piece of art.

I strive to piece my work together with an awareness of the imperfect, an appreciation of the old and how to give it new life. I am presently using old and new fabric or paper and manipulate them into new creations. Words that come to mind to create a new image are ragged, coarse, bumpy, flat, smooth, soft, uneven, thick “the more texture the better”.
